Genes

Locus Cultural Requirements Link Group Type
sad-1Suppresses several classical ascus-dominant mutants. Also, suppresses the near-absolute barren phenotype of crosses between wild type and a variety of strains in which a segment of DNA is duplicated. Finally, interspecies crosses within the genus Neurospora that are normally almost completely infertile become much fertile if the N. crassa parent is a Sad-1 mutant, suggesting that MSUD due to numerous small mispairings play a role in reproductive isolation of these species. sad-1+ encodes a RNA-directed RNA polymerase.B
qde-3Specifies a RecQ DNA helicase. Suppresses quelling of al-1 duplications.B
