Things are starting to heat up as we approach our primary elections here in Missouri. One thing I have noticed is that candidates for higher office, like the US Senate, are not putting their party affiliation on their public materials. This does not seem to have impacted candidates for offices like state house or county level positions, but neither senate candidate Jim Talent nor Claire McCaskill show their party affiliation on their signs or web-sites.

People put stars all over the place, but no longer do you see elephants or donkeys. Why ARE candidates distancing themselves from their party affiliations?
