Well, I missed my goal of updating every week, but in addition to my having been on vacation for a bit, it has been busy here.

I drove with my family from Kansas City to Lake Tahoe, CA and a great time was had by all.
We saw Antelopes, and Jack Rabbits, but no Jackalopes.

Lake Tahoe was beautiful, as ever. If you have never been, it makes a great side-trip from Asilomar. I have skied there in the spring before or after the Fungal Genetics Conference and while spring skiing is sometimes unpredictable, we always had a good time.

The busy part of the summer for us has been mostly migrating the FGSC web-site from the University of Kansas Medical Center computers to new servers at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. The FGSC site is approaching 1 Gb of data and has many scripted pages. These latter all needed to be updated to conform to the new environment. If you did not notice that we have moved, then we did our job well. There were some interruptions in our service, but overall the transfer went exceedingly well. Please let us know if you find any problems.

If you have been following the issues surrounding the Chancellor at UMKC, a new Chancellor has been selected. He is Guy H. Bailey, Ph.D., provost and executive vice president at the University of Texas in San Antonio, Texas. We can all hope that this will mark a period of unprecedented growth and cooperation between the administration, faculty, and community. New top guy
