Today is the last day to file 2005 tax forms in the US. A black Monday for many.

I have just returned from the 8th European Conference on Fungal Genetics. It was a great meeting in a beautiful city. Vienna has a lot of charm and we appreciated both gracious hospitality and careful
planning and site selection. The scientific sessions were interesting and engaging and the breadth of topics astonishing. It was spring break for the Technical University and I am not sure that they had left the air handling system turned on. This opinion, however is only from my inability to stay awake later in the day (Vienna time, not KMC circadian time).

I had some great runs with some great people. When we ran in the StadtPark, along the Vienna River, I even saw a White Breasted Nuthatch and whatever Chicadee they have over there.

Prior to attending the ECFG, I went to the Neurospora 2006 meeting at Asilomar. As usual, Pacific Grove was the setting for a interesting and productive meeting. We had a little bit of everything including rain blowing a window off the Chapel and late night talks followed by early morning runs. Oded Yarden and Nora Plesofsky organized a memorable scientific program.
If you had a chance to meet FGSC Asst. Curator, Sheera Walker, then you know how lucky we are to have her working at the FGSC.
