The program and abstracts for the upcoming Neurospora 2006 meeting are now online. So is the program for the ECFG.
Meanwhile, we have been busy with knockout strains from the
Neurospora Functional
Genomics Program Project. We are
arraying mutants in 96-well format.
Also on our benchtop are 74 Pichia strains from
Stephan Bauer at the Carnegie Institution Department of Plant Biology at
Stanford.
Each strain carries a different gene from Aspergillus nidulans.
Check them out.
We have also received the plasmids described by Kuck and Hoff in FGN 53 that allow selection with nourseothricin. This should be useful to many people.

Rotavirus took a swipe at my beautiful and charming daughter. Despite the fact that she is a strong and robust 14 yr old, she ended up spending 2 nights in the Intensive Care Unit at Children's Mercy Hospital. While I am not going to advocate staying longer than one needs, CMH is a great place that does everything to make the child's stay as comfortable as possible. They have cable TV, DVD libraries, and Room Service, all in private rooms.
In other news, we are gearing up for the meetings. The program for the Neurospora meeting is getting filled in and we are putting the finishing touches on our poster for this and the ECFG.
